BARREDA HANDED OUT THE AWARDS FOR THE BEST WINES, MANCHEGO CHEESE, OLIVE OIL, SAFFRON AND HONEY FROM CASTILE-LA MANCHA

The main novelty of this edition is the three new awards for each category known as the Gold Selection, Silver Selection and Bronze Selection Awards, to replace the traditional first and second prizes. Likewise a Grand Selection Award has been given to each of the five best products from Castile-La Mancha.

The President of the Castile-La Mancha Autonomous Region, José María Barreda, today handed out the "Grand Selection 2006" Awards, that distinguish the best wines, Manchego cheeses, olive oils, honeys and saffrons from the region. In total, 52 awards were given out, distributed among the different categories that are established for the five products.

The Award-Winning ceremony was presided by the Radio Nacional de España journalist Pepa Fernández and attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Ms. Elena Espinosa.
