Introduction Gran Selection Delicacies Award Winners Press Room Contact Links

The Grand Selection Awards were created in 1990 for wines and since then other categories have been added: in 1993 Manchego cheese, in 1994 virgin olive oil, in 1998 honey, in 2003 saffron and the latest edition held in Cuenca included two additional prizes for ecological products.

Over the years, the "Grand Selection Awards" have consolidated into a quality guarantee benchmark, which is the best showcase for regional food and drink, as the award-winning products represent the Castile-La Mancha Autonomous Region throughout the year at national and international trade fairs and events.

For this reason, great care was paid to all the details concerning the XVII edition of the awards, and the main novelty was the concession of a Grand Selection Award for each category, in addition to the Gold, Silver and Bronze SelectionAwards.

The ceremony that was attended by around two thousand people, was presided by Pepa Fernández, a renowned journalist, currently the director and presenter of the Spanish National Radio programme "No es un día cualquiera" (Not just another ordinary day).

The Grand Selection Awards intend to make a name for and to promote the excellent quality of some of the most representative local products and thereby boost the marketing of such products.
